Apple Pie Rangoons are here! By @stillhungry4more 🍎🥧
INGREDIENTS:
– Cream cheese filling
– 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
– ¼ cup powdered sugar
– 1 teaspoon vanilla
Apple pie filling:
– 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
– 2 apples, finely diced
– ¼ cup brown sugar
– 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
– 2 teaspoons cinnamon
– 2 tablespoon water
Cinnamon Sugar:
– ¼ cup sugar
– 2 teaspoon cinnamon
Additional:
– 25 wonton wrappers
– Water, for sealing
– 2 cups vegetable or canola oil (for frying)
– Caramel sauce, for serving (optional)
PREPARATION:
1. In a large bowl, combine cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla. Beat with a hand mixer on medium speed until smooth, about 3-5 minutes. Refrigerate while you make the apple pie filling.
2. In a large pan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add diced apples and cook for about 5 minutes. Add in brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and water. Continue to cook until the apples are soft and a sauce forms. Remove from the heat and transfer to a bowl.
3. To make the cinnamon sugar, combine the cinnamon and sugar in a small bowl. Set aside.
4. To assemble, place about 1 teaspoon of cream cheese filling and 1 teaspoon of apple pie filling in the center of a wonton wrapper. Wet all 4 sides with water and fold the wrapper diagonally. Bring in the remaining 2 sides, making sure there are no holes to prevent the filling from spilling out. Repeat with all the wonton wrappers.
5. In a medium pot, heat the oil until it reaches 350°F (180°C). Drop in the wontons in small batches to not crowd the pan. Fry until golden brown, about 4 minutes. Remove from the oil and place on a paper towel-lined plate. Repeat until all the wontons are fried. Dip in cinnamon sugar and serve with caramel sauce.
6. Enjoy immediately!
